The 6 decade rosary of the discalced Carmelites was started in the Carmelite tradition by Saint Teresa herself. The 6th decade is in honor of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Each mystery has its own 6th decade prayed at the beginning or end of each mystery. It is believed she learned this "Brigittine" rosary from the nuns at one of the Brigittine monasteries she received hospitality from during one of her many travels.
The 7 Our Fathers are in honor of the Seven Sorrows of Our Lady as given to Saint Brigit:

Simeon's revelation
Flight into Egypt
Losing 12 year old Jesus in the Temple of Jerusalem
Meeting on the Way of the Cross
Crucifixion, Death, Lancing and Removal from the Cross at Calvary
The dead body of Christ in the arms of His Mother (Pieta)
The Burial of Jesus; Mary's tears and lonliness

The 6th decades are:
Joyful: The Immaculate Conception
Sorrowful: The Pieta
Glorious: The Spiritual Maternity of Our Blessed Mother
Luminous: The High Priesthood of Christ

At the end of each decade, the Apostle's Creed replaces the Glory Be.

These rosaries are hand made in the Bethlehem area by local Christian craftsmen. The beads are made of Holy Land olive tree wood. Holy Land soil is placed inside the Rosary center piece.
